PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University cheerleading team turned in strong performances at two competitions over the weekend to complete their season on a positive note.
The Panthers placed third in the All-Girl Division at the New England Cheerleading Association competition Saturday in East Haven, Conn. PSU also placed first in the Top Gun Division, which involved five Panther team members performing stunts continuously for one minute.
PSU came back on Sunday and place second in the All-Girl Division at the Keene State College Invitational.
“The team gave an amazing performance and really nailed their routine in front of a packed crowd,” said PSU head coach Carrie Kiley. “The season ended with an excellent showing, and we are very excited about next year as we are only losing one member from this year’s team.”
The Panther cheerleaders just completed their second year as an affiliate in the Athletic Department. PSU President Donald P. Wharton announced last month that cheerleading is one of the two new varsity sports at Plymouth State, beginning with the 2006-07 season.
