Plymouth, N.H.— A spring concert by the PSU Contemporary Dance Ensemble (CDE) May 9 and 10, choreographed by PSU dance division faculty and guest artists, will help raise funds for scholarships for dance students at Plymouth State University.
Additional adjudicated student works and dances by guest artist Tommy Neblett of Boston’s Prometheus Dance Company will round out the program.
With co-director Diane Arvanites-Nora, Neblett has created more than 50 works for Prometheus Dance, as well as forming The Elders Ensemble, a company of post-professional dancers ages 60¬–85. He is also a full-time faculty member of the Walnut Hill School and The Boston Conservatory where he teaches modern dance technique, partnering and choreography.
The program includes pieces in classical ballet, contemporary modern and tap dance styles along with a pre-show performance by the PSU Dance Team.
Student excellence will be recognized in the form of scholarships and awards presented at each performance, according to Interim Director of Dance Amanda Whitworth.
Tickets for the CDE scholarship concert are $12 for adults; $8 for seniors and youth, and free to PSU students with I.D. at the Silver Center box office, (603) 535-ARTS or (800) 779-3869. Box office hours are Monday – Friday, noon – 6 p.m.
