PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University captured 10 of the 16 events Saturday, including three by senior Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.), to post a 160-126 victory over Bridgewater State College in a women’s swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium.
The triumph allows PSU to even its dual meet record at 3-3 on the season, while BSC drops to 1-6 overall.
Scarborough finished first in three individual events for PSU – the 200-yard butterfly (in a season-best time of 2:26.14), the 200-yard backstroke (season-best 2:26.54) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.70). Classmate Annabelle Winters (Chester, N.H.) collected two individual victories for the Panthers, winning the 1,000-yard free in 11 minutes, 55.14 seconds and taking the 100-yard free in a season-best 59.90 seconds.
Other Panther swimmers who hit the touchpad first included freshman Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) in the 100-yard backstroke (season-best 1:07.81), freshman Katie Bouffard (Essex Jct., Vt.) in the 100 yard breaststroke (season-best 1:18.24), and freshman Rachel Hersey (Newburyport, Mass.) in the 50-yard freestyle (27.77 seconds).
PSU swept the diving events, with senior Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) winning the one-meter with a score of 230.80, and classmate Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) posting the top score (231.15) on the three-meter.
Sophomore Lindsay Devereaux (Princeton, Mass.) led the Bears with three individual event victories – the 200-yard free (2:05.26), the 500-yard free (5:41.47) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:23.02). Freshman Jill Hahne (East Islip, N.Y.) also won the 200-yard breaststroke, and BSC captured both the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays.
PSU is home again this Wednesday for a dual meet against Granite State rival Keene State (6:00 p.m.). Bridgewater State will also host Keene State in its next meet, the following Wednesday (Jan. 28) at 6:00 p.m.
