PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University head football coach will be honored with a prestigious award from a regional charitable organization.
Paul Castonia (left) has been named College Football Coach of the Year by MasterSports, a regional non-profitable organization. MasterSports’ mission is to promote the game of football through coaches clinics, with proceeds raised awarded as scholarships to deserving high school and youth football players. To date, MasterSports has awarded 91 scholarships totaling $72,500.
The Coach of the Year Award is presented to the person the MasterSports Board of Directors believes best contributes to promoting and teaching the game of football at the College/University level. The award will be presented to Coach Castonia following a clinic at a luncheon at the Sheraton Colonial Hotel in Lynnfield, Mass, on March 15, 2008, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Castonia, who just completed his fifth season at PSU, was named New England Football Conference Coach of the Year in 2007. He led the Panthers to a 9-1 overall record and a victory in the ECAC North Atlantic Bowl. It was the Panthers’ first winning campaign since 2001 and matched the most wins in a season at Plymouth State since the 1995 team also finished 9-1.
