PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the senior captains of the Plymouth State University football team has been honored for his performance during the 2006 season with his selection to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team.
Senior right tackle Joe Fellini (Walpole, Mass.) was voted All-New England by the Football Writers group. The All-Star Team includes 30 players from 20 different New England teams in Divisions II and III. Fellini is one of six selections on the team from the New England Football Conference.
Fellini (right) earlier this month was voted NEFC Boyd Division Offensive Lineman of the Year and First Team All-Star. A 6’0”, 263-pound right tackle, Fellini was the anchor of PSU’s powerful offensive line. He led a Panther offense that was one of five of the 16 teams in the NEFC to average more than 200 rushing yards per game (201.2) this fall. A four-year starter and two-year captain, Fellini was one of the primary reasons that PSU ran the ball of 442 of its 598 plays from scrimmage this season.
The Panthers wrapped up the season with a 4-5 overall record, and finished tied for third in the Boyd Division of the NEFC, with PSU, Nichols and UMass Dartmouth all with 4-3 divisional marks.
