PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting quarterback on the Plymouth State University football team was recognized Monday with selection to the New England Football Conference Weekly Honor Roll for his performance in PSU’s 35-28 win last Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
Junior John DeMarco (Milford, N.H./Milford) represented Plymouth State on this week’s NEFC Honor Roll. DeMarco has used both his arm and his legs to help the Panthers get off to a 3-0 record this season.
A 6’1”, 220-pound quarterback, DeMarco (right) completed 9-of-13 passes against UMD for 250 yards and a touchdown, a 60-yard toss in the second quarter. DeMarco also rushed to two touchdowns, helping PSU build a 28-7 first-half lead.
DeMarco has completed 16-of-25 passes over the last two weeks for 389 yards, three touchdowns and only one interception. He leads the 16-team NEFC in passing efficiency (185.6), with season totals of 19-for-34 (55.9 percent), 431 yards, three TDs and one INT. He has also rushed for 154 yards (3.6 avg.) and four touchdowns.
The Panthers, ranked fourth in this week’s New England Division III poll, have won their first three games for the ninth time in school history and the first time since 1998. PSU continues NEFC Boyd Division play this Saturday with a visit to Western New England College (1:00 p.m.) The Bears, 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the Boyd Division, are coming off a 48-3 loss to defending NEFC champion Curry College.
