PSU Hires New Grants Administrator

Susan Amburg, a resident of Plymouth, is Plymouth State University’s new grants administrator, responsible for researching appropriate grant opportunities and facilitating the application process.
<p.Primarily, Amburg will serve as a resource to the campus. As she describes the grant application process, a great deal of information is required. “My job is to help identify funding sources that support the University’s initiatives,” she says. “By centralizing the process the goal is to be more successful in applying for, and receiving grant funding.”

Of particular interest over the next year will be funding opportunities to support the Center for the Environment, the Drerup exhibition and the Reading and Writing Center. “While I will have my eyes and ears open for grant opportunities for other academic initiatives brought forward by faculty and staff, these initiatives have been identified as key focus areas by the administration,” says Amburg.

Prior to coming to Plymouth State, Amburg was the grants administrator for SAU 48. Her background is in fundraising. She previously served as the director of development for the American Red Cross in Concord, and also worked in politics for nine years. During President Clinton’s first presidential campaign she worked as a field organizer during the primaries and then was the deputy state director in New Jersey for the general election campaign. This led to a White House appointment as the deputy associate director of presidential personnel, where Amburg was responsible for identifying, screening and recommending candidates to the president for nomination and appointment to advisory boards and commissions. Amburg received her bachelor’s in political science from Williams College.
