PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University ice hockey team was recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Conference Wednesday for his performance in a Panther uniform last week.
Sophomore Dennis Kane (Westford, Mass.) was named to the ECAC Northeast Ice Hockey Conference Weekly Honor Roll. He has picked up this season from where he left off last year, when he led the team in goals and finished second in points as a freshman.
|A 5’8”, 170-pound forward, Kane scored three goals and four assists in two PSU games last week, but the Panthers dropped a pair of one-goal contests. He tallied a goal and three assists in a 7-6 overtime loss at Southern New Hampshire last Wednesday, and added two goals and one assist in a 6-5 setback to Assumption on Saturday. His power play goal at 16:02 of the third at SNHU sent the game to overtime, and his second goal vs. Assumption gave the Panthers a temporary 5-4 lead early in the third period.
Kane leads the Panthers in scoring with 10 goals and 10 assists, and is tied for fifth in the conference with 1.54 points per game.
The Panthers, 6-8-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the Northeast Conference following Tuesday’s 5-3 loss to Framingham State, continue a three-game homestand at Waterville Valley Ice Arena, hosting Wentworth on Saturday (Jan. 31) and Curry next Tuesday (Feb. 3). Both games begin at 6:00 p.m.
