PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the scoring leaders on the Plymouth State University ice hockey team has been recognized by the ECAC Northeast Conference for his role in last week’s Police Athletic League (PAL) Stovepipe Hockey Tournament in Hooksett, N.H.
Sophomore Rory Nickerson (West Chatham, Mass.) received Honorable Mention this week from the ECAC Northeast Conference. Nickerson is the second Panther this season to make the list, as classmate Dennis Kane (Westford, Mass.) received the same honor two weeks ago.
A 6’1”, 195-pound forward, Nickerson scored a goal and three assists in PSU’s 5-4 consolation game loss to UMass Boston in the Stovepipe Tournament, giving him a hand in all four Panther goals. He scored PSU’s first goal after UMB had taken a 3-0 lead, and he assisted on the next three as the Panthers overcame a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at 4-4 with 6:19 remaining.
The Panthers, who dropped a 4-2 decision Tuesday night to Southern Maine to suffer their fourth straight loss by a total of six goals, return to action Saturday with an ECAC Northeast Conference game against Lebanon Valley College at Waterville Valley Ice Arena (6:00 p.m.).
