PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sophomore on the Plymouth State University ice hockey team has been recognized by the ECAC Northeast Conference for his role in last week’s dramatic season-opening win over Stonehill College.
Sophomore Dennis Kane (Westford, Mass.) received Weekly Honorable Mention from the ECAC Northeast Conference. It’s tough to win Player of the Week when you play only one game, but Kane nearly did.
A 5’8”, 170-pound forward, Kane scored his second goal of the game with four seconds remaining in regulation last Saturday to lift Plymouth State to a 5-4 victory over Stonehill in PSU’s season opener. His first goal came just 17 seconds into the game, staking the Panthers to an early 1-0 lead.
Kane, who led the Panthers with 14 goals last season, helped PSU capture a win in the debut of new head coach Brett Tryder.
PSU, 1-0-0, returns to action Saturday with an ECAC Northeast Conference game at UMass Dartmouth (4:30 p.m.).
