PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men’s ice hockey team earned Eastern College Athletic Conference post-season honors for the 2006-07 season, it was announced Friday.
Freshman Chris Chambers (Crofton, Md.) was named to the ECAC Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team, the only Panther to be voted post-season honors. He was also recognized three times during the season, once as Rookie of the Week and twice on the Weekly Honor Roll.
A 6’3”, 190-pound forward, Chambers (left) led the Panthers in scoring with 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in 26 games, including five power play goals. Chambers shared the ECAC Northeast scoring lead among freshmen with Ross Enmark of Curry (23-11—34), who was voted the conference’s Rookie of the Year.
Chambers first made headlines back in November when he scored four goals in the championship game at the Police Athletic League Stovepipe Tournament in Hooksett, N.H., and received the Michael Briggs Memorial Most Valuable Player Award.
The Panthers completed the season with an 11-13-2 overall record. PSU went 10-4-1 in conference games during the regular season, finishing in fourth place and earning home-ice advantage in the first round of the conference tournament for the third straight year under coach Brett Tryder.
