PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men’s basketball team was recognized by the Little East Conference Monday for his accomplishments in two Panther games last week.
Senior Devin Ruocco (Dover, N.H.) was named LEC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Panthers to a pair of conference wins last week. This is the fourth time this season he has been honored by the LEC; he was previously on the Honor Roll once each in November and January and was selected LEC Player of the Week once in December.
A 6’4” forward, Ruocco (left) averaged 23.5 points in PSU’s 2-0 week, while shooting 58.6 percent from the field, 64.3 percent from three-point range, and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. He scored a career-high 33 points in last Saturday’s LEC win over UMass Boston, matching his career best by connecting on seven three-point baskets.
A reserve for three seasons prior to this year, Ruocco has become one of the top players in the LEC. He ranks third in the conference in scoring (16.0 points per game), 14th in rebounding (6.0 per game), ninth in free throw percentage (73.1), and 10th in field goal percentage (47.4). A strong shooter, Ruocco also leads the LEC in three-point baskets made (3.0 per game) and ranks second in three-point field goal percentage (45.6).
Ruocco and the Panthers, 10-13 overall and 3-9 in conference play, wrap up the regular season this week with a pair of LEC road games – Tuesday at Keene State (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday at Eastern Connecticut (3:00 p.m.)
