PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two freshmen on the Plymouth State University men’s ice hockey team received top weekly honors Tuesday from the ECAC Northeast Conference for their efforts in three games last week.
Freshman forward Deni Bojadzic (Gothenburg, Sweden) was named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week, and freshman netminder Karl Helgesson (Lerum, Sweden) was selected Northeast Co-Goalie of the Week. The two Panthers were instrumental in helping the team to two wins in three outings.

He had two assists, including an assist on the game-winning goal, in PSU’s 5-2 win over Castleton State on Tuesday, and scored two third-period goals to lead PSU past Southern New Hampshire, 4-2, Saturday in the opening round of the PAL Stovepipe Tournament. His first goal broke a 2-2 tie at 9:34 of the third period and was the game-winner, and he added an empty-net insurance goal with 0:02 seconds left in the game.
A 6’2”, 170-pound goalie, Helgesson stopped 39 of 41 shots he faced (95.1 percent) in the opening round of the PAL Stovepipe Tournament Saturday evening to lead PSU past Southern New Hampshire and into the championship game. He made 20 saves in the third period, helping PSU defeat SNHU for the first time since the 1996-97 season. Helgesson was named to the PAL Stovepipe All-Tournament Team.
