PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University men’s soccer program have been invited to participate in the annual New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Senior All-Star Game this Saturday (Apr. 29).
Senior defenders Steve Balgach (Fairfield, Conn.) and Steve Libera (Cromwell, Conn.) will represent the Panthers in the NEISL All-Star Game Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. Division I, II and III all-stars will be divided evenly among the two teams and the annual awards will be presented at halftime.
Balgach (right) and Libera (far right) completed outstanding careers for the Panthers in 2005. Balgach earned All-Little East Conference honors the past two years, including First Team in 2005, and Libera was an All-Conference pick in 2003 before battling injuries much of the past two seasons. Balgach was also a First Team selection on the 2005 NSCAA/adidas Division III Men’s All-New England West Team.
This year’s PSU representatives are following in the footsteps of several other former Panthers who have played in the Senior All-Star game, including goalie Brad Wilby in 2004 and defender Nick Libera last year.
The NEISL was founded in 1934, making it the older soccer leage in the American Collegiate ranks today. There are nearly 80 institutions that comprise the NEISL, representing Divisions I, II and III and NAIA Athletic Associations.
Clark University is doing a live webcast of the game, which can be seen at http://www.clarku.edu/athletics/varsity/mens_soccer/videos/webcasts.cfm
