A veteran communications professional with more than 20 years education experience has joined Plymouth State University as its new Chief Public Relations Officer. Timothy Kershner of Holderness was named to the post after a nationwide search. Kershner said he is excited to join Plymouth State.

“Plymouth State is a model of what a regional comprehensive university should be,” said Kershner. “PSU academic programs consistently attract the best students and faculty from the region and the country. And PSU outreach programs recognize the important roles universities play in economic development and community life.”
Kershner, a Pennsylvania native, formerly served as Vice President of Communications and Media Relations at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md., and as Director of Public Relations at Alvernia College in Reading, Pa.
Stephen Barba, PSU’s Executive Director of University Relations, said Kershner is a welcome addition to the University.
“Tim’s experience in higher education will serve him well as he takes on this new and expanded position,” Barba said. “In addition to directing PSU’s professional office of public relations, media relations, website management, designers, writers, and publications staff; Tim will be working with faculty, students, and administrative leaders to celebrate the innovative and creative accomplishments that occur every day across this campus.”
Kershner has a Master’s in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pa., and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa.
