PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Four Plymouth State University skiers have been recognized for their accomplishments on the slopes with selection to the 2005-06 New Hampshire Alpine Racing Association’s Senior State Team.
Seniors Topher Harlow (North Conway, N.H.) and Chad Demetry (Francestown, N.H.) and sophomores Jason Hey (Northboro, Mass.) and Melissa Caflisch (Clymer, N.Y./Northwood School) represent the Panthers on the 19-member team (12 men, 7 women). The team includes the top ski racers in the state, based on the United State Ski Association’s point system after last year’s races.
The NHARA State Team, which has been named each year since 1973, recognizes the outstanding racers in New Hampshire and supports ski racing in the state. Team members are recognized with entry into all NHARA races and complimentary skiing at all Granite State ski areas.
The four Panthers are also the top skiers on what should be another exciting season for the Plymouth State ski team. PSU is coming off a strong campaign last winter, when the men tied for second at the Eastern Regional Championships and placed sixth at the US Collegiate Ski Association’s National Championships, while the women were fourth at the regionals and 11th at the nationals.
The Plymouth State ski team is under the direction of 19th-year head coach Kim Bownes and 11th-year assistant coach Dave Gyger.
