December 1st, 2004 by Adam

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University softball program is offering a series of instructional clinics this winter for all ages, according to second-year head coach Bruce Addison.

The clinics are designed as “hands-on” training is order to give all young players a practical way to learn the skills of softball. The players will work on the fundamentals of pitching, fielding, the overhand throw and hitting, and will be instructed by the PSU coaching staff and team members with assistance from area high school coaches.

The clinics dates are:

Saturday, Jan. 15 (Overhand Throw/Pitching from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Hitting from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.);

Saturday, Jan. 29 (Overhand Throw/Pitching from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Hitting from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.);

Saturday, Feb. 12 (Overhand Throw/Pitching from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Hitting from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.);

Saturday, Feb. 26 (Overhand Throw/Pitching from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Hitting from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.);

Saturday, Mar. 12 (10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) (1) Fielding/Throwing, (2) Bunting/Running, (3) Hitting; Each session will last one hour.

The cost of each clinic is $30. Pitching and Hitting are separate clinics.

All instruction, according to Addison, will be followed by practical experience time for each participant. The clinics will take place in the P.E. Center Field House on PSU’s campus.

“All we ask is that you bring sneakers, a bat, a glove and an open mind,” said Addison. “We’ve found this to be a fun and learning experience for everyone.”

Proceeds from the clinics will go toward funding for Plymouth State Softball’s spring trip in March to Ft. Myers, Fla.
