PSU Student-Athletes selected to play in Senior All-Star Games

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University student-athletes have been selected to participate in the annual New England Senior All-Star Games in the sports of men’s basketball and men’s soccer.

Senior Mike Loughlin (Manchester, N.H./West) of the Panther men’s basketball team will represent PSU at the New England Basketball Coaches Association Division III All-Star Game, and senior Brad Wilby (Haddonfield, N.J.) of the PSU men’s soccer team will participate in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Senior All-Star Game.

The basketball all-star game and awards presentation is slated for Tuesday, Apr. 20, at Lavietes Pavilion at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. The Division III game begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Division I vs. Division II game at 7:30 p.m.

The soccer all-star game and awards presentation are scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 25, at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m., with Division I, II and III all-stars divided evenly among the two teams. The annual awards will be presented at halftime.

Loughlin was one of the captains and team leaders on a PSU basketball squad that finished with a school-record 24 wins (24-6) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. A 5’10” guard, Loughlin averaged 12.2 points a game and shot a league-best 84.6 percent from the free throw line. He completed his career with 877 points, 31st on PSU’s all-time scoring list.
Wilby was a captain and First Team All-New England goalkeeper for the Panther men’s soccer squad that shared the Little East Conference regular season title in 2003, finished with a 12-4-3 record and advanced to the ECAC New England Tournament. Wilby surrendered only 12 goals in 19 games for the Panthers, recording 10 shutouts and an impressive 0.63 goals against average. He finished his outstanding career with 24 shutouts, fifth most in school history.
