BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore Cait Anton (Woolwich, Maine) captured three individual events for Plymouth State University Saturday but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers were defeated by Bridgewater State College, 152-124, in a women’s swimming and diving meet.
Anton finished first in her specialties, the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.93) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:23.27), as well as the 200 individual medley (2:28.96). Anton has captured eight individual events in her four dual meets this season.
Freshman Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) also had a strong meet for PSU, placing first in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.42), and finishing second in the 50 free (28.06) and 200 free (2:12.34).
Three other Panthers collected two runner-up finishes apiece – freshman Erin Musto (Westford, Mass.) in the 1000-yard free (12:59.00) and 200 individual medley (2:45.20), sophomore Katie Bouffard (Essex Jct., Vt.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.44) and 200 breaststroke (2:48.23), and freshman Kate Marrie (Swampscott, Mass.) in the one-meter (158.80) and three-meter diving (135.25).
