PSU Venture Center offers Experiential Programs

The Venture Center at Plymouth State University will offer adventure educational programs in August.

High/Low Ropes Facilitator Training Course

Monday – Friday, August 15 – 19, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This course prepares participants to manage risk when facilitating low and high ropes challenge course elements. Skills taught include spotting techniques, equipment, knots, belay techniques and escapes, hardware, facilitating games and initiatives, leading-edge climbing, element set up and take down, gear retrieval, rescue sequences and ascending and descending techniques. May be taken as non-credit or for graduate credit.

Registration fee is $350 ($300 with PSU ID)

Leave No Trace Master Educator Course (LNT)

Monday – Friday, August 22 – 26 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

This course is put on by the Appalachian mountain Club to teach about “Leave No Trace” ethics and skills to teach others ways to avoid or minimize impacts to nature area resources when pursuing outdoor adventure opportunities. The course is designed for individuals who are actively teaching others backcountry skills or providing recreation information to the public.

The course is ideal for land managers, outdoor educators, outdoor retailers, volunteer trip leaders, youth groups, outing club leaders and individuals who are dedicated to responsible enjoyment of public lands. Participants who complete the workshop will be qualified to teach LNT trainer courses and awareness workshops.

The Venture Center is an experiential education-based program that serves as a catalyst for personal and professional growth. Workshops and training are designed to encourage personal empowerment, goal achievement and group support by moving individuals and teams beyond their own expectations.
