PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Plymouth State University volleyball team came out on the short end of a pair of matches Saturday in the JWU Fall Classic, hosted by Johnson & Wales University.
The Panthers were defeated by the hosts in three games in the first match Saturday morning, 30-16, 30-19, 30-27. PSU completed the day with a four-game loss to tournament champion Eastern Connecticut, 30-19, 23-30, 30-27, 30-24.
Plymouth State, which split its first two matches in the tournament Friday night, defeating Newbury College in three games before falling to Conn. College in four, is now 9-6 on the season. JWU completes the weekend at 11-9, while EastConn won the tournament with a 4-0 record, improving to 14-5 overall.
Freshman Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) was PSU’s representative on the All-Tournament Team. She was strong at the net, finishing the tournament with 45 kills and 21 blocks. Classmate Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.) recorded 144 set assists.
PSU resumes action Tuesday evening with a Little East Conference match at Foley Gymnasium against Keene State (6:00 p.m.)
