NORTON, Mass. – Freshman Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) registered 27 kills and eight blocks Saturday afternoon, leading the Plymouth State University women’s volleyball team to a pair of non-conference victories over Lasell College and Wheaton College in a tri-meet hosted by Wheaton.
Badeau had a team-high 12 kills and five blocks as PSU swept Lasell in its opening match, 30-10, 30-20, 30-19, and added 15 kills and three blocks in a four-game victory over Wheaton (30-23, 30-22, 22-30, 30-28). The Panthers have won four in a row to improve to 14-8 overall, while Lasell is now 13-11 and Wheaton is 2-22.
Other strong performances from the Panthers in the Lasell match came from sophomore Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.), who had seven kills and seven service aces; sophomores Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H.) and Wendy Dziedzic (Nashua, N.H.) who had 19 and 10 digs, respectively; and freshman setter Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.), who contributed 32 assists.
Junior Kirsten Willoughby (Plymouth, N.H.) and sophomore Michaela Del Rosso (East Providence, R.I.) joined Badeau with strong efforts against Wheaton, recording 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Del Rosso also had a team-high four blocks, Spears duplicated her earlier performance with 19 digs, and Kleckner finished with 40 assists.
PSU returns to action Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match at Middlebury.
