BOSTON, Mass. – The Plymouth State University volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at a Little East Conference round-robin, hosted by UMass Boston. The Panthers were upset by the hosts in four games in the first match (30-24, 25-30, 30-24, 30-27) but rebounded to defeat UMass Dartmouth in four games in the second match (30-24, 30-32, 30-13, 30-21).
The verdict against UMass Boston was the first loss for Plymouth State in 10 career meetings against the Beacons. Saturday’s split leaves PSU at 15-10 overall and 4-3 in LEC matches, while UMB is now 17-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference and UMD is 10-12 and 1-4.
Freshman Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) continued her strong play for the Panthers, recording 16 kills and six blocks against UMB and 15 kills and four blocks in the UMD match. Sophomore Michaela Del Rosso (East Providence, R.I.) chipped in with eight kills in both matches for the Panthers, while sophomore Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.) contributed 12 kills, six service aces and 17 digs in the two matches combined.
Plymouth State plays its final home match of the regular season Tuesday against Salem State (6:00 p.m.) before wrapping up the regular season next weekend at the Brandeis Tournament.
