PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Plymouth State University women’s volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at a Little East Conference Round Robin, rebounding from a 3-0 loss to Rhode Island College with a 3-1 triumph over Eastern Connecticut State University.
Plymouth State fell to RIC in straight games, 30-25, 30-27, and 30-25. The Panthers came back to defeat ECSU, 30-24, 27-30, 30-18, 30-27 in the second match of the afternoon.
PSU wraps up the conference regular season with a 5-2 LEC record, locked in a four-way tie for first place with Rhode Island College, defending champion Western Connecticut, and Eastern Connecticut. RIC wins the conference tiebreaker and, as the #1 seed, will host the annual LEC Tournament semifinals and championship on Nov. 5-6.
PSU earns the third seed and will host sixth-seeded Keene State on Wednesday, Nov. 3, in a first-round match. Western Conn. ends up as the #2 seed, and Eastern Conn. draws the #4 seed.
Plymouth State, 21-10 overall, plays its final regular season home match Tuesday at Foley Gymnasium against Salem State (6:00 p.m.), and wraps up the regular season Friday and Saturday at the Brandeis Tournament.
