PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the freshmen on the Plymouth State University women’s basketball team was recognized by the Little East Conference Monday for her efforts in the Panthers season-opening tournament last weekend.
Freshman Amanda Kania (Manchester, N.H./West) was named LEC Rookie of the Week on Monday during the first week of LEC honors this season. She helped the Panthers to a pair of victories and the championship in the Days Inn of Campton Tip-Off Tournament at PSU’s Foley Gymnasium.
A freshman forward, Kania averaged 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in the Panther victories over Daniel Webster College and New England College. She led the team in the championship game with 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while also contributing seven rebounds, two assists, a blocked shot and a steal.
PSU, 2-0, plays another home game Tuesday at Foley Gymnasium against non-conference foe Castleton State College (5:30 p.m.)
