PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer and rebounder on the 2004-05 Plymouth State University women’s basketball team has been selected to play in the 23rd Annual Senior All-Star Classic, hosted this Sunday by the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA).
Senior Lauren Devereaux (Hope Valley, R.I.) will represent the Panthers in the event, which is this Sunday, Apr. 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Babson College. Devereaux is one of 18 seniors from around New England were voted in by the coaches association and one of two from the Little East Conference.
The recognition is another in a long list of honors Devereaux has achieved this year. A 5’10” forward and team co-captain, she finished ninth in the LEC with 10.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She also ranked second in the conference in field goal percentage (.491) and third in free throw percentage (.766).
Devereaux earned accolades both on the court and off. She was named Second Team All-LEC, and was voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Team, as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Panther senior showed dramatic improvement over her career. After scoring only 22 points in 44 minutes as a freshman and 73 points her sophomore season, Devereaux was third on the team with 220 points last season and the team leader this year with 269 points.
