SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Freshman goaltender Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) stopped all 12 shots she faced Saturday afternoon, posting her second straight shutout and leading Plymouth State University to a 6-0 victory over Skidmore College in a collegiate women’s ice hockey game.
Junior Krista Pettrey (Williston, Vt.) scored two goals and senior Holly Williams (Wolfeboro, N.H.) added three assists to lead the PSU offense as the Panthers won their third straight game to improve to 6-4 overall.
Plymouth State took a 1-0 lead after one period, with Pettrey scoring the only goal of the frame. The Panthers put three goals on the scoreboard in the second period, with seniors Kelly Williams (Canaan, N.H.) and Laura Scala (East Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Jenna Lace (Pascoag, R.I.) each finding the net for the visitors.
The Panthers added a pair of insurance goals late in the third period by Pettrey and senior Angela Potvin (Augusta, Maine), both assisted by junior Sam Turner (Pawling, N.Y.)
PSU finished with 38 shots on goal, while limiting the home team to 12 shots on DeLorie.
Plymouth State plays its next three games on home ice at Waterville Valley Arena, beginning Wednesday (Jan. 25) against Norwich (6:00 p.m.) Norwich defeated PSU earlier this season, 3-1, in Northfield, Vt.
