KINGSTON, R.I. – Junior Ashley Pagliarini (Cranston, R.I.) registered a goal and an assist Saturday afternoon to lead the University of Rhode Island Club team to a 4-0 victory over Plymouth State University in women’s college ice hockey action at Brad Boss Ice Arena.
Sophomore goalie Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) was outstanding in the Panther goal, facing 55 shots and making 51 saves. It was the fourth time this season she has made more than 50 saves in a game.
The game was scoreless through two periods, despite URI outshooting the visitors 28-5 over the first 40 minutes. Sophomore Emily Tuohey (West Springfield, Mass.) finally broke through for URI and got one past DeLorie at 4:33 of the third period. Freshman Alison Drake (Framingham, Mass.) made it 2-0 at the eight-minute mark, and Pagliarini extended the lead to 3-0 a little over a minute later. Freshman Nicole Oullette (Randolph, Mass.) added an insurance goal for the Rams with five minutes remaining.
PSU, 3-15-0 overall, remains in the Ocean State for a match-up Sunday at Salve Regina University (2:00 p.m.) URI, 17-7-0 overall, is also back on the ice on Sunday, visiting UMass (12:30 p.m.)
