PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top scorer on the Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team received one of the top weekly honors from the Little East Conference Monday after leading the Panthers in four games last week.
Sophomore Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) was named LEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, the first such honor for Plymouth State this season. She was a key player as PSU posted a 2-2 record last week, winning both LEC games and dropping a pair of games to teams ranked in the top 10 in Division III.
A starting midfielder, MacDonald led the Panthers with 12 points in the four games, recording seven goals and five assists. She scored two goals and two assists vs. both ninth-ranked Colby and arch rival Keene State, added two goals and one assist in an LEC win over RIC, and tallied one of two PSU goals in a loss to sixth-ranked Bowdoin. MacDonald also led PSU with 14 ground balls and 20 draw controls.
MacDonald leads the Panthers on the season with 24 points (15 goals and a team-high nine assists). She also leads the team in draw controls (34) and ranks second in both caused turnovers (15) and ground balls (27).
PSU, 5-3 overall, is in first place in the Little East at 4-0. The Panthers play three road games this week – a non-conference encounter Wednesday at Colby-Sawyer (3:30 p.m.) and conference games Saturday at UMass Dartmouth (1:00 p.m.) and Sunday at Southern Maine (1:00 p.m.)
