CLAREMONT, Cal. – Seniors Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.) and Michelle Norton (Sandwich, Mass.) scored four goals apiece Thursday night to lead the Plymouth State University women’s lacrosse team to a 17-2 victory over the University of Redlands at Ted Runner Stadium.
Sophomore Bethany Brown (Norwich, Conn.) also contributed to the Panther attack, notching three goals and four assists. The win helped PSU improve to 2-0 on the California trip and 3-0 on the season, while Redlands dropped to 2-4.
Sheridan scored three times and Brown and Norton twice each as PSU took an 8-0 lead less than 12 minutes into the game. It was a 12-1 Panther lead at halftime, and the visitors outscored the Bulldogs 5-1 in the second half to claim the victory.
Sophomore Nicole Evans (Scituate, Mass.) and freshman SeaSea Fuhrman (Lakewood, Co.) also got into the scoring act for PSU with two goals apiece. Freshman Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) and junior Katie O’Donnell (Plymouth, N.H.) registered one goal each for the winners.
Senior Emily Riehle (South Burlington, Vt.) got Redlands on the board with a first-half goal, and senior Lisa Kiendra (San Diego, Cal.) added another midway through the second half.
Senior Carmen Villanueva (East Schodack, N.Y.) earned the victory in the Panther net, making seven saves. Bulldog goalies Jacqualine Gordon (Sandy, Utah) and Morgan Whitney (Houston, Tex.) combined for five saves.
PSU returns to New England for its next game, Monday at Gordon College (4:00 p.m.).
