PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University’s women’s lacrosse team used a balanced scoring attack Saturday afternoon to easily defeat Rhode Island College, 14-2, in a Little East Conference game at Arold Field.
PSU jumped out to a 6-0 lead before RIC got on the board, and the hosts led 9-1 at halftime. The Panthers coasted to the win in the second half, improving to 5-2 overall and remaining unbeaten in LEC play (4-0). The Anchorwomen, who have not defeated PSU in their five years as a team, fell to 4-4 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Sophomore Amanda Spadafora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) registered three goals and one assist and junior Bethany Brown (Norwich, Conn.) scored three goals to lead the Panthers. Junior Nicole Evans (Scituate, Mass.) and sophomores Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) and Liz Boddy (Brentwood, N.H.) all contributed two goals and one assist apiece. Sophomore Annie Pinault (Framingham, Mass.) chipped in with a goal and an assist, freshman Jackie Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) added a goal, and sophomore Allison Frobey (Sandy Hook, Conn.) recorded her first career point with an assist.
Sophomore Caitlin Gavin (Portsmouth, R.I.), the LEC’s leading scorer with over five goals per game, scored both goals for RIC.
Sophomore Suzie Lilakos (Stratham, N.H.) made three first-half saves in the PSU goal, and senior Kristin Elliott (Exeter, N.H.) made four stops in the second half. Sophomore Micaela Morris (Barrington, R.I.) made eight saves for RIC.
PSU gets right back into action Sunday with a key non-conference game at Bowdoin (1:00 p.m.) RIC returns home to host Curry on Monday (4:00 p.m.)
