PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The women’s soccer game between Plymouth State University and Fitchburg State College Thursday afternoon at Panther Field was halted after one half due to lightning in the area. The game and statistics will not count, and there is no word on when or if the game will be replayed.
The contest started 20 minutes late due to the lightning. But the teams were able to get the first half in before the lightning returned. It was a scoreless first half, with each team recording four shots.
The game was actually a make-up, as the originally scheduled contest, on Sept. 11, was postponed due to rain.
The Panthers, 3-3-0 overall, returns to Little East Conference play Saturday at Panther Field against Southern Maine (1:00 p.m.). Fitchburg State, 5-1-0 overall, returns home to host Worcester State on Saturday in a Massachusetts Small College Athletic Conference match-up (10:00 a.m.)
