PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting keeper on the Plymouth State University women’s soccer team was honored Tuesday with a weekly honor from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Senior Hayley Quinones (Waitsfield, Vt.) was named the ECAC Division III New England Goaltender of the Week for her efforts in the week ending Oct. 30. She was also named Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
A 5’6” keeper, Quinones allowed only one goal in 200 minutes of action, posting a 1-0-1 record with a 0.45 goals against average and 18 saves. She made 12 saves in PSU’s key 1-0 upset victory over Southern Maine, which helped the Panthers secure the final LEC Tournament berth, and she made six saves in PSU’s 1-1 tie with UMass Dartmouth which clinched the play-off spot.
A four-year starter in goal for PSU, Quinones goes into this week’s LEC Tournament with a 1.83 goals against average and 97 saves. Her whitewash of Southern Maine last week was her second shutout of the season and the 12th of her career.
