PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the standouts on the Plymouth State University women’s soccer team received regional recognition Tuesday with her selection as Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Player of the Week.
Sophomore Stacy DiSabato (Manchester, N.H./Central) earned the ECAC’s top weekly honor for Division III New England women’s soccer after being named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. DiSabato is the second Panther student-athlete to be honored by the ECAC this season, joining sophomore Sarah Smith (Lexington, Mass.) of the field hockey team.
A sophomore forward, DiSabato (right) scored four goals last week, including a pair of game-winners, as PSU went 2-0 to pull its record to the .500 mark at 8-8-0. She scored a hat trick in Tuesday’s 5-1 non-conference win at Lyndon State, and she added the game-winning goal Saturday in PSU’s 5-0 home win over UMass Boston. After a scoreless first half against UMB, her goal in the first minute of the second half led to a five-goal eruption for the Panthers. A Second Team All-LEC selection as a freshman last year, DiSabato is second on the team and 10th in the conference in scoring this season with six goals and two assists.
The Panther season came to an end Tuesday with a 3-2 loss to Rhode Island College in the first round of the Little East Conference Tournament. PSU completes the campaign with an 8-9-0 overall record.
