CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton State College women’s tennis team defeated Plymouth State University for the first time since 2000, earning a 6-3 non-conference victory Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans swept all three doubles matches with Jamie Olson and Kim Allen defeating senior Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H.) and freshman Buffy Garland (Freedom, N.H.) 8-0 in the #1 slot to set the tone.
Castleton split the six singles matches with the Panthers. Deyermond took the #1 singles match for PSU over Charla Klaas 6-2, 6-0, and teammate Briley Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H.) needed three sets to dispatch Olson in #2 singles, 6-2, 5-7, (10-6).
