PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University’s women’s tennis team took four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles encounters Saturday afternoon en route to a 6-3 Little East Conference victory over Salem State College. The match was moved indoors to the P.E. Center due to rain.
Freshman Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H.) and juniors Rachel Xavier (Meredith, N.H.) and Sarah Cole (North Waterboro, Maine) each collected two wins apiece for PSU. Deyermond won her match at No. 3 singles and teamed with sophomore Ashley Gorman (Cumberland, R.I.) for a victory at No. 3 doubles.
Xavier and Cole were easy winners at No. 2 doubles, and captured straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Xavier remained undefeated this season in singles, moving to 4-0, while Cole is now 3-1. Freshman Briley Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H.) picked up her first win of the season for PSU at No. 5 singles.
PSU, 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play, plays a make-up match Tuesday at Colby-Sawyer (4:00 p.m.). Salem State is now 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the LEC.
