KEENE, N.H. – Senior forward Sarah Begnoche (Millville, Mass.) scored a game-high 20 points Tuesday evening to lead the Keene State College women’s basketball team to a convincing 81-51 Little East Conference victory over Plymouth State University at Spaulding Gym.
Begnoche, who hit nine of her 12 shots from the field, also blocked five shots. She helped the Owls to their seventh straight win and a record of 18-5 overall, clinching second place in the LEC with an 11-2 mark. PSU drops to 6-17 overall and 2-11 in the conference.
Keene State led from start to finish in the game between the two in-state rivals. A 15-0 run midway through the half put KSC up 29-7, and the Owls entered the locker room with a commanding 40-22 lead.
The Panthers never threatened the rest of the way. Kristen Degou (Newburyport, Mass.) and Caitlin Jamiel (Cranston, R.I.) finished with 10 points each for the Owls, as all 13 players who dressed saw game action.
Freshman Karly Gray (Southampton, Mass.) led the Panthers with nine points.
Keene State has won the last six meetings between the two teams, including an 80-59 victory earlier this season in Plymouth.
Both teams wrap up their regular season schedule on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.; Keene State hosts Southern Maine and Plymouth State travels to Eastern Connecticut.
