PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Seniors Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.) and Michelle Norton (Sandwich, Mass.) and freshman Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) each scored three goals Sunday as Plymouth State University’s women’s lacrosse team improved to 11-0 with a 12-11 non-conference victory over Bowdoin College at Arold Field.
The Panthers also extended their winning streak to 20 games, dating back to last season. The Polar Bears dropped their fourth in a row and fell to 8-6. The last team to defeat Plymouth State was Bowdoin on Apr. 13, 2003, in Brunswick, Maine.

Bowdoin came back with four of the next five goals, including three by senior Hilary Abrams (Lakeville, Conn.) to make it a 5-4 game with less than five minutes remaining on the first half clock.
Six more goals were score in the closing minutes of the first half, including two for PSU by Sheridan and two for Bowdoin by junior Colleen McDonald (Greenfield, Mass.). Kelsey MacDonald notched her second of the game with one second remaining to give PSU a 9-6 lead at the break.
Senior Angela King (Limington, Maine) and McDonald opened the second-half scoring to bring the Polar Bears to within one (9-8), but MacDonald and freshman Liz Boddy (Brentwood, N.H.) answered for PSU to make it a three-goal game again.
Bowdoin would not go down easily, as King and McDonald scored consecutively midway through the second half to pull Bowdoin back to within one again at 11-10. Norton of PSU and Abrams of Bowdoin exchanged goals with nine minutes left to make it 12-11, but neither team could score the rest of the way.
Junior goalie Kendall Cox (Guilford, Conn.) finished with seven saves for Bowdoin. PSU senior goalie Carmen Villanueva (East Schodack, N.Y.) made five saves in the first half, and junior Kristin Elliott (Exeter, N.H.) came on in the second half and made eight stops, including two from point-blank range in the final minute of the game.
Plymouth State returns to action Wednesday with a non-conference match-up at Arold Field against Colby-Sawyer (4:00 p.m.). Bowdoin returns home to host Bates on Wednesday (4:00 p.m.).
