WENHAM, Mass. – Senior Nicole Evans (Scituate, Mass.) recorded eight points Thursday afternoon with six goals and two assists as Plymouth State University overcame a 3-1 deficit to post a 15-5 victory over Gordon College in non-conference women’s lacrosse action.
The Panthers got off to a slow start and after scoring the first goal of the game, fell behind 3-1 midway through the opening half. PSU got it together, rattling off 10 unanswered goals to take an 11-3 advantage into the break. The Panthers scored the first two goals of the second half and kept the pressure on the rest of the way en route to their second straight victory.
Joining Evans in the scoring parade were senior Bethany Brown (Norwich, Conn.) with three goals and juniors Meg Cupoli (Southboro, Mass.) and Annie Pinault (Framingham, Mass.) with two goals apiece. Junior Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) contributed a goal and three assists, while junior Liz Boddy (Brentwood, N.H.) added a goal and classmate Amanda Spadafora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) collected an assist.
Sophomore Mary Snell (Carlisle, Mass.) and freshman Dani Zorn (Mercer Island, Wash.) had two goals apiece to lead the Fighting Scots, and senior Kim Otsuji (Farmington, Mich.) scored the other Gordon goal.
Sophomore Sarah Beebe (Rumson, N.J.) earned the win in goal for the Panthers, making five saves before giving way to freshman Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) late in the game. Freshman Chyanne Wilson (Pearl River, N.Y.) made 11 saves for Gordon.
The Panthers, 2-3 overall, open Little East Conference play this Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. contest at Western Connecticut. Gordon, 5-4, plays a Commonwealth Coast Conference game Saturday at home against Curry College (11:00 a.m.)
