PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University scored four second-half goals Wednesday afternoon to defeat Norwich University, 4-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer game at Panther Field.
PSU sophomore Krista Pettrey (Northfield, Vt.) scored two goals against the school from her hometown. Her first goal, less than two minutes into the second half, was the eventual game-winner, while her second goal rounded out the scoring with just under two minutes remaining.
Junior Melissa Erwin (Newington, Conn.) contributed a goal and an assist to the winning effort, and sophomore Mary Kate Cunningham (Holden, Mass.) scored PSU’s other goal. Sophomore Kelsey McBride (Brookline, N.H.) collected two assists.
The Panthers finished with a 20-1 advantage in shots on goal. Norwich keeper Megan Fleshman (Troy, N.Y.) made 12 saves, while PSU junior keeper Hayley Quinones (Waitsfield, Vt.) was credited with the shutout but did not need to make any saves.
PSU, 2-0-0 on the season, visits Saint Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine, this Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference match-up. Norwich, 0-4-0, returns home to host Emerson College Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in its Great Northeast Athletic Conference opener.
