PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University split a double-dual meet at the PSU Natatorium to open the women’s swimming and diving season Saturday afternoon, defeating Norwich University 91-38 but coming up on the short end against Wellesley College, 80-57.
The Panther swimmers were led by seniors Scarlette Scarborough (Salem, N.H.) and Annabelle Winters (Chester, N.H.). Scarborough captured first place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.34, and she placed third in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:08.77. Winters finished runner-up in both distance freestyle events, finishing the 1000 yard free in 12:12.71 and the 500 free in 5:55.82.
PSU’s strong diving contingent took the top two spots in both one-meter diving events. Senior Krit Kearins (Andover, Mass.) took first in both the voluntary round, with a score of 147.55, and the optional round, with a score of 173.75, while classmate Becky Huntington (Hampstead, N.H.) was second in both events, scoring 145.90 in the voluntary and 164.20 in the optional.
Plymouth State, 1-1, returns to action next Saturday, Nov. 22, with a dual meet at Regis College (1:00 p.m.).
