WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women’s swimming and diving season got underway Saturday afternoon with a fourth place finish at the annual Betty Spears Relays, hosted by Wellesley College.
The hosts dominated the afternoon, winning every event and taking first and second place in nine of the 13 swimming races. Wellesley scored 350 points, while Westfield State won the race for second place with 118. Mount Holyoke (66 points) edged Plymouth State (64) for third place, and Babson College was fifth (32). The meet included several of the usual relay races along with some unique events as well.
The Panthers’ top performances were a pair of third-place finishes. Juniors Lindsay Osborne (Cedar Falls, Iowa) and Kaitlyn Milligan (Forestdale, Mass.) combined with sophomore Caitlin Little (Scituate, Mass.) and freshman Lindsay Graham (Framingham, Mass.) for a third place in the 200-yard butterfly/breaststroke relay race, and Milligan, Graham and freshman Alison Thayer (Higganum, Conn.) teamed up for a third place in the 300-yard breaststroke relay.
Plymouth State will have its hand full in its home opener next Saturday as the Panthers host Wellesley in the first dual meet of the season at the PSU Natatorium (12:00 p.m.)
