PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Bridgewater State College took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles matches Wednesday afternoon en route to a 7-2 victory over Plymouth State University in a Little East Conference women’s tennis match at the P.E. Center Courts.
It was the first dual match of the season for the Bears, as their opening match last Saturday against Southern Maine was postponed. PSU is still looking for its first win of the season, dropping to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference matches. Plymouth State won last year’s match vs. the Bears, 5-4.
Senior Angie Bizzozero (Norwell, Mass.) and freshman Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.) led the Bears, combining for the victory at No. 1 doubles and winning at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Senior Allison Tripp (South Dennis, Mass.) was also a double winner for BSC, capturing her No. 5 singles match after teaming with classmate Paula Araujo (Fall River, Mass.) for a victory at No. 2 doubles. Freshman Danielle Linscott (Uxbridge, Mass.) also collected at win at No. 6 singles.
Senior Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H.) posted a solid victory for Plymouth State at No. 1 singles. PSU’s other win came at No. 2 doubles, thanks to senior Briley Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior Meghan Rodier (Francestown, N.H.)
PSU returns to action Saturday with an LEC match at Salem State (1:00 p.m.) BSC returns home to host UMass Boston in an LEC encounter Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
