LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Plymouth State University women’s tennis team proved to be too strong for Lyndon State College Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Hornets, 8-1, in a non-conference match-up.
The Panthers cruised to easy victories in all three doubles matches, and took five of the six singles encounters to post the team victory. PSU improves to 7-3 on the season, while Lyndon State had its four-match winning streak snapped and fell to 6-2.
Sophomore Meghan Rodier (Francestown, N.H.), seniors Erica Huckins (Holderness, N.H.) and Kiley Boyd (Brattleboro, Vt.), and junior Joan Kietzman (Plymouth, N.H.) were all double winners for PSU, each winning in both singles and doubles. Senior Brittany Campbell (Newport, R.I.) also collected a win at No. 6 singles, and junior Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H.) teamed up with Huckins for a victory at No. 1 doubles.
Junior Michelle Robert (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) recorded the only victory for Lyndon State, edging Deyermond in a third-set super-tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.
