BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Plymouth State University wrestling team registered a 34-16 victory over Bridgewater State College Saturday afternoon, winning four of the six contested matches. The other four bouts were decided by forfeits as the Panthers improved to 7-8 in dual meets and Bridgewater State dropped to 6-15.
PSU took the lead with consecutive victories by senior Shaun Cleary (West Keansburg, N.J.) at 149 pounds, junior Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) at 157, freshman Brandon Black (Keene, N.H.) at 165, and senior Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.) at 174. Moskowitz pinned his opponent for the team-leading eighth time this season and improved his record to 19-5. Cleary upped his record to 17-5, Black to 19-8, and Kittredge to 18-3.
Bridgewater State earned decisions at 184 and 197 pounds and a forfeit at 285, but the match was decided when PSU collected forfeit victories at 125, 133 and 141.
PSU wraps up regular season with a series of matches next weekend. The Panthers travel to Trinity College (Conn.) on Saturday for a round robin with Trinity, Springfield and Johnson & Wales, and return to Plymouth for the home finale on Sunday (Feb. 8) against Norwich (1:00 p.m.).
