PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman Shannon Santamaria (Northfield, N.H.) scored two goals Thursday as the Plymouth State University field hockey team extended its winning streak to five games with a 2-0 non-conference victory over Endicott College at Arold Field.
The Panthers improve to 7-4 with the outcome, while the Power Gulls slip to 9-6.
Endicott had a 4-3 advantage in shots in the first half, but neither team was able to score. Santamaria broke the deadlock with 14:39 remaining in the second half, scoring her first goal with an assist from sophomore Lilly Silva (Lowell, Mass.). Santamaria closed out the scoring with an insurance goal in the closing seconds of the game, giving her four goals on the season.
The Panthers outshot Endicott 8-3 in the second half and 11-7 in the game. Senior Kelly McNamara (Reading, Mass.) made eight saves for the Power Gulls, while senior Kerry Brady (Jefferson, N.H.) stopped five shots in the Panther net.
Plymouth State continues its four-game homestand Saturday with a Little East Conference game against Eastern Connecticut (2:00 p.m.). Endicott returns home to host Regis College Saturday at 1 p.m.
