The first annual PSU Saxophone Day will be presented by the Department of Music, Theatre,and Dance Saturday, Sept. 29 from noon – 3:30 p.m. at the Silver Center for the Arts.

There is no charge for the workshop, and registration includes tickets to the afternoon concert.

This hands-on workshop for middle and high school saxophonists will feature Dr. Roger Eckers, a guest Selmer saxophone clinician from Rochester, N.Y., and Dr. Rik Pfenninger, professor of music and director of jazz studies and music technology at Plymouth State University.

The workshop will include instruction in tone development, extended techniques, articulation, classical and jazz repertoire development, reed adjustment and ensemble performance with the PSU faculty rhythm section.

A public concert featuring Jazz Standard Time, the Plymouth State Faculty Jazz Quartet, with Eckers as a guest performer, will follow at 4 p.m.

Tickets for the concert are $5 for adults and seniors and $3 for youth at the Silver Center Box Office, (603) 535-ARTS.
