The Saul O Sidore Lecture Series at Plymouth State College will host Jack G. Shaheen at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 10 in the Smith Recital Hall at the Silver Cultural Arts Center.
Shaheen is an internationally acclaimed author and media critic who has published and lectured widely on racial and ethnic stereotyping. His writings include more than 300 essays in publications such as Newsweek and The Wall Street Journal.
His book, “Reel Bad Arabs,” exposed the influence of Hollywood and the media in shaping the public’s images of Arabs and Muslims.
The Saul O Sidore Lecture Series was established at Plymouth State College in 1979 to bring a variety of speakers to the College each year to address the critical political, social and cultural issues and events of our time. Sidore Lectures are offered to the public free of charge.
[NOTE: The omission of the period after the middle initial in the Sidore name is not an error. PSC adheres to the wishes of the family in presenting the name in this format.]
