The PSC Social Work Department has been selected for a second year of funding for their geriatric enrichment in social work education project. The funding is provided by the John A. Hartford Foundation through the Council on Social Work Education. Stephen Gorin will continue as project director and Cynthia Moniz as project consultant.

The primary goal of the project is to ensure the pervasiveness of gerontological learning experiences and sustainability of curricular changes in the social work curriculum. The second year of the project will focus on the implementation of planned aging-rich
curriculum changes.

Gorin says, “Involving undergraduate-level students in gerontology is our biggest challenge. Better infusion and coordination of curricular content on aging should help to increase student interest, and we hope to increase the number of students who elect the Aging Services Option in the Social Work major.”
