“I am very excited to be part of Plymouth State and look forward to working with the Faculty, Staff, Students and Community in building upon all things Technology. As a technologist, this is a chance of a lifetime,” Campbell said.

Campbell’s information technology career includes 20 years with the U.S. Air Force, serving in a number of places including Germany, Iceland and several stateside assignments, earning the rank of Master Sergeant and Senior Technologist. Campbell was responsible for managing and directing an $80 million engineering budget that comprised information technology, personnel, and operating budgets. In his current position, Campbell oversees technical services, application development, systems and TV engineering and NTID’s classrooms and laboratories. Stephen Taksar, Plymouth State’s Vice President for Finance and Administration, said Campbell’s expertise and experience make him a great fit for the CIO position.

“We are very fortunate to have someone of Stephen’s experience, vision, and passion for technology to help our campus integrate the best that technology has to offer our students and faculty,” Taksar said.

Campbell’s education includes a bachelor of science in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland and a master’s in both Information Technology and Business Administration from RIT. He is also an adjunct professor at the Saunders College of Business at RIT.
